Do I need to get a Dental Impression made to order a set of custom dentures? (TOP)
Yes you do need to get a dental impression made as our FX Dentures are hand created to only fit your mouth based off of your dental impression.
You will not get your stone impression back as the creation process destroys the impression. If you are only having top teeth dentures made, then you only need to have an upper impression done - we do not need your lower teeth and jaw line unless you are having lower dentures made.
If you can not get a dental appointment in your area to have a dental impression made, you can also visit the Vampire Dentures Bookstore for purchasing what you need to make your own dental impression stone positive. Please understand that your prosthetic dentures and crafted directly from the stone positive, so if the stone you mail to us is incorrectly made or missing gumlines, palate, etc. your dentures can not be made or will not fit correctly. If you are not sure how to make a dental impression stone positive, please have your dentist make the impression.
What is a Dental Impression ? (TOP)
A dental impression is a mold of your mouth that a dentist makes using a soft gel-like substance called alginate. The procedure is inexpensive ($10.00 to $50.00) and has little to no pain. The impression takes about 5 minutes to have done and most dentists are happy to do this when you explain that you are having custom Special Effect Dentures made. Once you have a positive impression of your mouth (teeth, gum lines and roof of your mouth) you can mail your positive mold to us and we'll take care of the rest.

What does my dentist need to know to make the dental impression?
(TOP)
Be sure to tell your dentist that the dental impression must include your teeth, gums and the roof of your mouth for Upper Dentures and must include teeth, gums and lower palate for Lower Dentures. We prefer stone positives to be made of Hydracal or Golden Pemstone and should be cleaned of all air bubbles and irregularities BEFORE mailing to our creation lab.
You will not get your stone impression back as the creation process destroys the impression. If you are only having top teeth dentures made, then you only need to have an upper impression done - we do not need your lower teeth and jaw line unless you are having lower dentures made.
What if I want more than one set of FX Dentures made, do I need to have more than one dental impression? (TOP)
If you would like to have more than one type of denture or more than one set of the same dentures, you must send a separate dental impression for each set or different style that you would like. For example, if you are ordering one set of Classic Dracula and one set of Nosferatu then you would need to have two separate dental impressions taken of your upper mouth and mailed to us.
When mailing, package your stone positive carefully. You will not get your stone impression back as the creation process destroys the impression. If you are only having top teeth dentures made, then you only need to have an upper impression done - we do not need your lower teeth and jaw line unless you are having lower dentures made. We will contact you with mailing instructions and the mailing address upon verification of your order and the receipt of payment.
What about color matching the prosthetic to my real teeth?
(TOP)
When we create your set of custom dentures, we use a neutral bone color that matches most people's existing teeth. For those individuals whose teeth are stained or discolored due to smoking or heavy coffee or tea drinking, simply soak the dentures in a strong coffee, monitoring carefully and the dentures will darken slowly. Smokers can smoke with the dentures and they will also discolor over time. All of the prosthetics are finished with a fine polish and hard high-gloss coating so they always appear wet and vibrant like your existing teeth.
We do offer custom hand painted effects to create decayed and rotting dentures at an additional cost, but we do not do color matching as it is not necessary and is expensive.
Are the single and double fanged dentures caps or bridged?
(TOP)
All of our single prosthetics (such as the Classic Dracula) and all of our double and triple fanged prosthetics (such as the New Orleans Vampire) are all joined with a small bridge that runs invisibly behind your front teeth along the top gum line. We DO NOT manufacture caps as they get lost, get swallowed and tend to fall out. Our dentures are all ONE PIECE for an exact fit with ease and for your peace of mind.
How hard is it to talk with the prosthetic dentures?
(TOP)
When you first put on your denture, you will probably speak with a lisp and find it difficult to say some words clearly. This is completely normal as you have changed the length and structure of your mouth, thus changing the air flow and diction of your speech. All you have to do is practice with your new dentures and within a few hours to a few days, depending on the person, you will compensate for the change in structure and will be speaking perfectly! Most people only need a couple of hours of practice to adjust their speech.
Do I need to use something to stick the denture to my existing teeth?
(TOP)
Most of our dentures do not require a dental bonding agent and fit snuggly and tightly to your existing teeth. Some individuals with small or flat existing teeth may need to use a dab of denture bond or an equivalent agent, though the average person does not need to do this. Actors use a bonding agent to further seal the denture to their existing teeth, allowing them more stability when wearing the prosthetic for a long period of time.
